She’s been holed up at home after filming was ground to a halt during the coronavirus pandemic.

And The Chase star Anne Hegerty, 61, has admitted she’s embraced her new life in lockdown after feeling ‘overworked for a long time.’

The quizzer told Lorraine Kelly on Thursday she’s been using the time to care for plants and try out new recipes, after plans to travel to Australia for filming were also suspended due to the crisis.

Keeping busy: The Chase star Anne Hegerty, 61, has admitted she’s embraced her new life in lockdown after feeling ‘overworked for a long time’

Anne told Lorraine that while she’s aware others are struggling with isolating at home during lockdown, she’s embraced the opportunity to ‘catch up on other things.’

She said: ‘I am absolutely loving it, I’m aware there’s people not loving it, but I’m having a great time.

‘My plants have stopped dying as I’m watering them now, I’m cooking food and cut my finger from chopping veg and not just popping things in the microwave.

‘I have developed the skill of eating chocolate and doing quiz shows. I’ve been taking the opportunity to catch up on other things, I’ve felt overworked for a long time.’

Anne also explained that she and fellow Chaser Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett were scheduled to travel to Australia to film their version of the daytime show, but have been unable to obtain a visa in the current circumstances.

She told Lorraine: ‘I was supposed to go in March and then it didn’t happen. It was suggested that I go next month.

‘The thing is, those in Australia can’t get a work visa for me, they can’t get work visas for me or Mark [Labbett].

‘So we’re kind of a little bit stuck at the moment. But again, we’d like to get out there as soon as we can.’

Anne added that since appearing on the show she’s brought a whole new fanbase into the world of quizzing.

Earlier this month Anne admitted she was feeling ‘guilty’ about enjoying isolation, as she revealed a friend from the quiz scene had sadly passed away from coronavirus.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, she said: ‘I feel slightly guilty about it, I am the luckiest person in the UK right now.

‘I’ve been absolutely fine staying in my home. To be honest, this is working for me if I just wasn’t worrying about how its effecting other people.’

Asked if there was anything she missed while in lockdown, Anne said: ‘I miss recording The Chase, we had a load of programmes we were going to record and those have been postponed and that has been irritating. But apart from that to be honest, it suits me.’

Anne also revealed that a man she knew from the quiz scene, Jon Jacob, recently died from coronavirus.

She added: ‘A guy, I didn’t know terribly well but I had quizzed with him a couple of times in Feb, Jon Jacob, died last week.

‘He was 69 and in good health and I’m not quite sure what happened. That was really unfortunate. We are all going to miss him.

‘My colleague Paul Sinha has been tweeting about how he is really quite ill for the last 10 days or so. We are hoping he is over the worst of it now.’
