‘It’s an act of war!’ The Chase fans are left fuming as ITV CANCELS show to air US President Joe Biden’s historic inauguration

The Chase viewers were left fuming on Wednesday as their daily fix of daytime quiz action was replaced by Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Fans couldn’t hide their upset after switching on their television to see the historic moment Biden was sworn in as the new US President instead of the beloved game show hosted by Bradley Walsh.

Many flooded Twitter with their furious reactions to the schedule change, with one even joking the move was ‘an act of war.’

Biden’s inauguration was always set to be a historic moment as it brought an end to the divisive four-year reign of Donald Trump.

The occasion also saw Kamala Harris become the first woman in history to be sworn in as Vice President.

However despite this moment earning a thrilled response, fans of The Chase were furious it had interfered with their daily fix of minus offers, questions and push-backs.

One wrote: ‘Wait. What. No #tippingpoint or #TheChase today cos American politics. We’re on lockdown here. Don’t care about this s**t.’

Another added: ‘At least Trump never go #TheChase taken off TV Biden has a lot of making up to do already.’

A third penned: ‘I’m over the mood Trump has left the @WhiteHouse I really am, I also wish @JoeBiden the very best of luck, however, I’m not so happy @ITV has decided to replace @ITV Chase with his inauguration.’

‘What the sweet Jesus is this? I come home expecting to sit down and watch The Chase and there is some contrite cobblers on TV about a new US President. Do they not know that removed The Chase from our screens is an act of war!’

A disgruntled fan added: ‘I’m pleased for America, but can we have #TheChase back on now please?’

‘Why are having Biden become the new US President on our TVs? Miss #TheChase tonight ffs.’

‘I know #InaugurationDay is quite important but I had been looking forward to #The Chase on +1,’ another commented.

‘Why should us British be deprived of our daily dose of Bradders just cause some yank is the leader of Americans. Well jarred off to say the least.’

‘I’m all about @JoeBiden’s inauguration, seems like a top egg. But at the expense of @ITVChase? Bang out of order.’

Biden’s inauguration was a star-studded occasion with Lady Gaga delivering a stunning rendition of the National Anthem, and Jennifer Lopez singing This Land Is Your Land and America The Beautiful.

The event proved to be an oath of office that was like no other in history, with any grand balls and parties cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Whereas hundreds of thousands usually congregate on the Capitol grounds, this year members of the public were banned from gathering on the National Mall.

It came after a mob of Trump supporters breached the Capitol two weeks ago, sending lawmakers into hiding and leaving five people dead, including a police officer.
