The Body Coach’s Joe Wicks wears face mask and sliders for hospital trip

HIs daily PE lessons have gained a million followers around the world, even though he’s got a broken hand after falling off his bike.

And The Body Coach’s Joe Wicks, 33, left his home where he has been self-isolating amid the coronavirus pandemic, to go to hospital to have his hand put in plaster.

He stepped out wearing a face mask and a comfortable pair of sliders for the occasion and also wore a cosy looking tracksuit.

Joe has pledged to donate all profits from his PE live streams to the NHS as they battle to save those infected with COVID:19.

He had been wearing his arm in a bandage following an operation on the break last week in which a wire was put in, and he said he would continue teaching PE, but wouldn’t do any push-ups.

He said at the time: ‘I was out on my bike last Saturday, I fractured a bone in my hand.

‘It’s okay, I just can’t do any push-ups or press-ups or burpees but I’m sure you’ll be happy about that because it means no burpees for you. I’ll be here for as long as you need me.’

He documented his hospital trip on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, showing the various stages of going from a bandage to plaster.

And earlier in the day, he had said how he has been struggling to shower without the use of one of his arms, but had said he had done it without getting his hand wet.

Both the BBC and Channel 4 have been on the phone to Joe since he started streaming live PE lessons for children via YouTube amid the COVID-19 crisis this week.

The Body Coach, as he is known to fans, is also said to be close to inking a deal with Channel 4 – after more than a million homes tuned in to the lessons, which he has pledged to undertake on a daily basis since schools were closed down across the UK.

A source has told The Sun: ‘Channel 4 have worked with Joe previously and were straight onto him once they saw he was going to be hosting live workouts daily.

‘His YouTube streams have been watched in their droves, so they have offered him a deal to host a daily show for them which would be aired to the nation to get kids, and adults, moving every morning.

‘Nothing is signed yet but they are all hopeful something will work out.’

Moreover, Joe has been offered a huge deal to create a healthy ready meal range with Tesco.

The fitness guru is said to have previously turned down an offer to create a range of microwave meals with the supermarket chain, but they are now thought to have offered him a deal ‘of around £3.3 million’.

An insider told The Sun: ‘Joe is currently signed up with Gusto, where customers get fresh ingredients to their door, but Tesco have approached him again and his team have agreed to a meeting with them once that contract ends.

‘The range will be something completely different and will have to adhere to Joe’s strict way of working in his Body Coach plans but the team are sure they can make it work.’

Joe was reportedly set to create a range of healthy microwave meals with Tesco in 2018, but he is said to have pulled out of a deal.

It is thought the new range would have to align to The Body Coach’s meal plans.

An insider added: ‘Tesco know Joe’s popularity has swelled because of his PE classes and have thrown around the idea of doubling the previous figures, which would take them to a package of around £3.3 million.’

The offers come after Joe turned down an offer to have his own TV show following the success of his online workouts in a bid to keep his fitness shows open to everyone.

He explained: ‘I have decided I want to stay on YouTube because I want it to have a global reach. I don’t want to be exclusive to one place. I have been blown away by the response.’
