‘It purrs like a little kitten!’ The Block shamelessly promotes the Ford Puma with a cringeworthy product placement for the new car

The Block shamelessly plugged Ford’s new Puma during Thursday’s episode of the Channel Nine renovation show.

Hosts Scott Cam and Shelley Craft were inspecting the progress on the contestants’ houses when Shelley pulled up in the car.

The smiling 44-year-old drove straight into Daniel and Jade’s garage, leaving the contestants momentarily confused about what was happening.

‘Oh, look at the Puma!’ announced an excitable Scott, 57.

After showing off the car from a variety of angles, Shelley finally emerged from the vehicle, before telling Scott: ‘Well, my Ford Puma. It purrs like a little kitten!’

She continued to boast about how ‘good’ the car looked in the South Australian couple’s garage, before Scott explained it was all part of a series of challenges sponsored by Ford.

And the car company seemed to have made a serious investment in the show, going some way to explain the amount of airtime given to the vehicle.

‘This week you’re playing for $10,000 from Ford, but next week, you are playing for this,’ Scott told a shocked Daniel and Jade.

He added: ‘$37,000 of motor car to either leave in your garage or drive home.’

'It's a bit cute. Nice car,' said Jade, while Daniel, 35, added, 'Spiffy-looking little car, isn't it? And someone gets to take that home next week!'

With a brand new car now up for grabs, Daniel and Jade, 34, happily got to work promoting the vehicle, too.

‘It’s a bit cute. Nice car,’ said Jade, while Daniel, 35, added, ‘Spiffy-looking little car, isn’t it? And someone gets to take that home next week!’

But Scott wasn’t quite done talking up the car yet, and added: ‘It comes with apps on your phone, this car. So you put the VIN number in of the car and then you can turn it on, you can turn the heating on, you can turn the heated seats on from your phone.’
