The Bachelor’s Abbie Chatfield exposes the vile trolling she endures on a daily basis – including a man who threatened to ‘strangle her if he could’

The Bachelor’s Abbie Chatfield has exposed the horrifying trolling she has been subjected to since she catapulted to fame last year.

A man leaving a voice-note claiming ‘he would strangle her to death’ and a woman stating she would ‘kill herself if she was related to her’ highlighted just a few examples of the unacceptable messages the reality star receives on a daily basis.

In a lengthy Instagram post on Friday, Abbie, 23, expressed fears for her safety – admitting she was ‘scared to be recognised in public’ and ‘worried that someone would break into her apartment to hurt her’.

Abbie’s slideshow of messages on Instagram exposed a series of disturbing threats, vile comments and ridicule aimed at her time on The Bachelor.

The Bachelor In Paradise star stood her ground in her caption, writing: ‘F*** you if you’ve ever messaged anyone something even close to this. This is why people commit suicide after being catapulted into the spotlight by a TV show.

‘Am I grateful for the bachelor? Yes! Does ANYTHING anyone does on these shows warrant this? F*** NO. These are just 10 of the messages I’ve saved over the last year. Threats of violence, name calling, threats to my safety and general snide comments still happen a year on.’

Abbie explained that while she had been told by ‘well-intentioned’ fans to ‘block and delete’ in the past, it was almost impossible as a sudden spate of new troll account would pop up to continue their campaign of online harassment.

‘You think these accounts are just fake accounts? No. These are people’s parents, daughters, friends. Most of the accounts are people who have a seemingly normal social media presence.

‘At one point I was scared to be recognised in public, for fear of my safety. I still get worried when people ask for photos with me that they’re going to say something to hurt me or take a photo with me and joke about me with their friends.’

Abbie continued: ‘This isn’t a joke. This isn’t f***ing funny and This isn’t fair. I shouldn’t be falling asleep worried someone will break into my apartment and strangle me!’
