Jordan Peele resurrects a horror classic in the first teasers for Candyman ‘spiritual sequel’
Jordan Peele is preparing to drop his latest horror masterpiece, following Us and Get Out.
This time, the actor/writer/director has made a ‘spiritual sequel’ to the 1992 horror classic Candyman.
He treated fans to some teasers Tuesday ahead of the first official trailer, which drops Thursday.

Peele posted the chilling six-second video to his Twitter, writing: ‘I dare you to say his name.’
It begins with Teyonah Parris uttering the titular boogeyman’s name into a mirror, as the superstition goes.
It then shows Rebecca Spence saying his name, before cutting to Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and then Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Peele also prompted followers to tweet his name with a hashtag five times to receive and additional treat.

The clip shows a hand reaching for a hook, the Candyman’s weapon of choice, before it drops from inside a long sleeve.

The original film was about a hook-wielding ghostly figure who terrorizes a Chicago housing project when his name is said five times into a mirror.
Written by Peele and directed by Nia DaCosta, the new installment offers a fresh take on the legend in the same now-gentrified Chicago neighborhood.
Peele garnered a huge following with his directorial debut in the 2017 movie Get Out and last year’s followup Us.
