In a post on Instagram Stories on Sunday, Amy detailed her birthing experience, revealing she chose to have a water birth.

She said she was ‘feeling confident and excited’ in the lead up to her daughter’s birth.

‘I had a feeling that she would come early… I was laying in bed and at 1am, my water broke,’ she recounted.

‘I actually felt a pop, and I was like, “Oh, that’s weird,” and then I felt some water, and I was like, “Oh, I think my waters broke,” so I ran to the toilet, because I didn’t want to get water everywhere.

‘I yelled from the toilet out to Rory, I was like, “Babe, I think my water broke!” and he jumped out of bed like, “What?!”‘

Amy said she ‘wanted to labour at home for as long as I could before going to the hospital’, and she’d created a ‘preference sheet’ of what she wanted to happen.

‘My contractions pretty much started right away, they began to become more frequent and more intense,’ she continued.

‘I laboured at home from 1am ’til 7am, and then that’s when my midwife said that I should come in.’

Amy said she ‘chose not to know’ how dilated she was during the labour, because she didn’t want to get ‘disheartened’ if she still had a long way to go.

Nearing the end: She said she was in the shower when she 'transitioned into the final stretch' of her labour, and was then 'asked to get into the water bath'

She said she was in the shower when she ‘transitioned into the final stretch’ of her labour, and was then ‘asked to get into the water bath’, where she listened to a playlist of Nick Cave songs and affirmations.

She said she was in the bath for just two hours before her daughter was born, and after they both received health checks, they returned home later that same day.

‘It was honestly such a surreal experience. At 1am, my water breaks, by 3.20pm, I’m bringing a baby home,’ she said.
