Sunrise host David Koch’s secret role on Home and Away revealed – as rumours he was BANNED from the soap following his appearance emerge
Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch’s past role on Home and Away has been revealed.
In a segment on the breakfast TV show on Tuesday, the 63-year-old was seen in Summer Bay in a clip from 2007.
In the cameo, Kochie is seen holding a beer and saying ‘yeah sure’.

The scene prompted a friendly ribbing from his co-stars, Sam Armytage and weatherman Sam Mac.
‘It was a speaking part…It was alright,’ Kochie said, happy to laugh at his short-term turn at acting on the long-running soap.
Kochie even joked he was put up for a Logie nomination that year.

During the segment, weatherman Sam Mac was interviewing Home and Away stars Rob Kipa-Williams and Luke Jacobz to promote the soap.
He suggested Kochie’s small-screen misadventure might have been the reason no-one from the Sunrise family has been invited back to the series.

‘It’s been a long time since he made an appearance on the show. No one has been invited to Summer Bay since,’ Sam said, jokingly implying Kochie was the reason.
‘So a 13-year-hiatus and this [the clip of him] might explain why.’
Sam Mac then suggested that a lot of fans were interested in seeing him make an appearance on Home and Away.

Despite Sam said she ‘wasn’t feeling it’, the segment ended with the two actors joking that Sam Mac would be on the show soon after his audition.
