Australian cricketer Steve Smith and his wife Dani Willis will not be spending Christmas together this year.

The 29-year-old has been ‘denied entry’ into the Cricket Australia team camp in Melbourne due to new Covid-19 restrictions, The Daily Telegraph reported on Wednesday.

The law graduate travelled from Sydney to Melbourne earlier this week to be with her husband, after being apart for 121 days because of his sporting commitments.

The blonde beauty arrived in the Victorian capital before the borders were closed to Greater Sydney, believing she would be able to join Cricket Australia’s hub after three days in isolation, the publication reported.

The couple’s inability to be together comes after he first left for England back in August for a white-ball series.

Last week, Steve told with his fans that he was excited to spend the festive season with his wife after months apart.

In an Instagram post, Steve shared a photo with Dani and wrote that he was counting down the days until their reunion: ‘114 days down and only 7 to go!’

‘It’s been a long 4 1/2 months away from my wife, but I can’t wait for her to join me in Melbourne next week just in time for Christmas!’

Steve recently returned to Australia and completed two weeks of mandatory hotel quarantine after competing in the Indian Premier League in the UAE.
