He’s Channel Seven’s resident sports commentator.

And with plenty of time on his hands after the 2020 AFL season was suspended, Hamish McLachlan enjoyed a stand-up paddle board session at the beach in Victoria on Friday.

The 44-year-old headed to the coastal town of Balnarring for the bout of exercise.

On the outing, Hamish wore blue and pink board shorts with a white T-shirt.

Obviously not thinking he would take a topple in the water, he wore a black cap, a dark pair of sunglasses and had a pair of Apple AirPods in his ears.

Hamish appeared relaxed as he maneuvered in the calm water.

Hamish has some time on his hands amid the coronavirus pandemic, after the AFL suspended its 2020 season.

It was revealed last month that all matches were called off until May 31.

The AFLW was also completely cancelled.

‘We will review the situation by the end of April to determine whether a further suspension period will be required,’ AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan said at the time.

‘We are prepared to run as late as possible in 2020 to complete the season if it is required.’

Gillon, emotional and appearing just as lost as the AFL’s millions of devastated supporters, offered a blunt assessment of the crisis: ‘I don’t know when it gets better.’

Matches were already being played with empty stadiums after the government banned gatherings of more than 500 people.

Gillon said the league was facing its biggest financial crisis in its history, with clubs to be hit hard and thousands of staff to be affected.
