Selma Blair shares her struggles during ‘a quiet Christmas’ that left her ‘crying’ as she posts pics with son Arthur

She’s been dealing with the loss of her mother in May and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic all while continuing to battle MS.

And Selma Blair shared with her Instagram followers Sunday that she’d found the festive season difficult this year.

‘A quiet Christmas,’ she wrote alongside some photos of herself and her son Arthur, nine. ‘We did not see our friends or family besides our tiny group. I have had trouble staying awake. And crying.’

The actress, 48, continued: ‘I know the holidays can be hard for some. The first with my mother dead. The first in Covid.

‘The first with more hope for our world than I have ever wished for. The healthcare workers and teachers and restaurant owners. All of it.’

Blair then expressed gratitude for the support she has received, adding: ‘And I thank you humbly. For being here.’

In the snaps she shared, she’s seen in one seated at a dining table wearing a red paper party hat with a decorated Christmas tree behind her.

In another, she posed kneeling on the floor in front of a fireplace with a Christmas stocking hanging from the mantelpiece.

Her son Arthur sits beside her in an armchair.

And on a third photo, Arthur is seen excitedly opening his presents.

Blair, who publicly revealed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2018, dotes on Arthur and back in November, she shared how her illness is impacting her ability to play with him.

Sharing photos from a two-day beach trip she took with him, she explained: ‘The motion of waves challenges the vertigo I get. And running and playing are short lived for me at the moment.

But I watch. I take a few pictures…. A boy. His dog. Running on a beach. And I am here. His mom. I know this is the luxury in life.’
