21 years later, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair gave a repeat performance on Tuesday while celebrating Selma’s 47th birthday.
Though the old friends didn’t observe social distancing guidelines, the 43-year-old Buffy The Vampire Slayer star kissed from behind a mask to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Sarah shared a photo of the chaste peck Selma gave her on her black mask, which had a big set of red bedazzled lips on the front.
‘Since I will have to stay six feet away from you today (and wear a mask) this will be as close as I get to giving you a birthday kiss,’ she captioned an earlier photo of the two kissing at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards.

Both women looked festive for the celebration, with Sarah wearing a ruffled coral blouse and Selma opting for a vivacious yellow sleeveless dress.
The I Know What You Did Last Summer star also posted a short video of the two kissing and posing to her Insta Stories with a filter that mimicked an old photo booth.

The comments were mostly filled with adoring fans, though a few people complained that Sarah’s mask wasn’t providing much protection if Selma kissed it.
The Legally Blonde actress is also considered at high risk for coronavirus complications following her multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

Selma was most recently spotted enjoying a day out in Los Angeles on Friday with her long-term boyfriend Ron Carlson, 73.
Though she sometimes needs to use a cane or hold on to another person while walking, she was able to manage the lunchtime outing on her own.
Selma has one son, Arthur Bleick, eight, whom she shares with her former partner, fashion designer Jason Bleick.
The two were together from 2010 before separating in 2012.
The Storytelling star was previously married to Ahmet Zappa from 2004–2006.
