Sam Claflin says he ‘struggles to know his worth’ because he feels his success was a ‘luck of the draw’ as the Peaky Blinders star reflects on his career

He’s the British actor who has appeared in countless hits and is seen as a heartthrob by many.

But Sam Claflin admitted he is unable to see ‘[his] worth’ as an actor, because he feels his success was just ‘the luck of the draw.’

The actor, 33, detailed how he saw his career in an interview with Man About Town magazine on Thursday, saying he was ‘a rabbit in headlights’ when he first started out in the acting business.

‘I still struggle with knowing my worth. I don’t throw my weight around and I don’t demand things,’ Sam explained.

Despite his own reservations, Sam has proven himself to be a talented actor with roles in films like The Hunger Games franchise and dramas like Any Human Heart.

His most recent role in Peaky Blinders saw him portray Oswald Mosley, the leader of the British Union of Fascists, in a more malevolent role than he’s done previously.

Saying filming for the hit BBC show had a more ‘intimate pace’ compared to others project he’s worked on, Sam claimed he’s looking forward to his next show, an Amazon Prime Video mini-series titled Daisy Jones & The Six.

‘It should be fun because it’s quite a long stint of all of us together,’ Sam gushed of the new project, though it is unclear when he may start filming amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Sam may well return to his role as Mosley in season six of Peaky Blinders, though, as Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby failed to kill him at the end of the fifth season.

Going on to discuss his childhood, and growing up as the third or four brothers in Ipswich, Sam described himself as ‘definitely the feminine [one]’ of the group.

Of his relationship with mother Sue, he explained: ‘We’re both Cancerians, and I’ve always been quite chatty.

‘I’ve always been into fashion, and I’d go shopping with my mum and talk about it; I’d say what I thought was nice.’
