Russell Crowe gifts Robert Irwin one of his stage guitars after the 16-year-old started playing the instrument
Not many teenagers can say that they are learning to play guitar on an instrument owned by a famous musician and actor.
But that’s exactly what Robert Irwin is doing.
Posting to Instagram on Tuesday, the 16-year-old revealed that after taking up the ‘new art’ of the guitar, actor Russell Crowe gifted him one of his own stage guitars for the youngster to play on.

‘Thank you, @RussellCrowe for gifting me this beautiful guitar,’ he wrote.
‘I’ve had a lot of fun taking up this new art and I feel very honoured to now play one of your stage guitars.
‘It’s so special to use an instrument with such history… And now it’s journey will continue as I bring it with me on my travels!’

Alongside the caption Robert shared two photos of himself with the thoughtful gift.
The first photo featured Robert playing the guitar in the garden and in a second black and white shot he had the guitar resting on his leg showing it off to his followers.
Robert was dressed in a pair of tan chinos with an olive green button up shirt.

The instrument is a generous gift from the actor, who is also an accomplished musician having played in several bands in the past including, 30 Odd Foot of Grunts and The Ordinary Fear of God.
Russell was a close pal of Robert’s late father Steve Irwin and he has remained in contact with family since Steve’s death in 2006.
He also gifted Robert’s sister Bindi a fig tree to celebrate her nuptials to Chandler Powell earlier this year.
