RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Chi Chi DeVayne dies, age 34, after being hospitalized with pneumonia

RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Chi Chi DeVayne passed away, age 34, Thursday after being hospitalized with pneumonia and suspected kidney failure.

The Louisiana native (born Zavion Davenport) lived with scleroderma, a rare, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the immune system attacking the tissue under the skin, and around internal organs and blood vessels, which can also cause scarring and thickening of tissue.

Chi Chi competed on the eighth season of the Emmy-winning VH1 drag queen pageant and the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars.
