Renee Zellweger will headline NBC miniseries The Thing About Pam in her first foray on broadcast TV

Renee Zellweger is set to star in The Thing About Pam, a true crime miniseries that will span six episodes on NBC, marking the screen star’s first foray on broadcast TV.

The miniseries starring the Bridget Jones’s Diary star, 51, will be adapted from a Dateline probe and a 2019 podcast of the same title, Deadline reported.

It centers around the 2011 murder of a Missouri woman Betsy Faria that her husband was initially convicted for, but it was later overturned and the case eventually focused on Faria’s coworker Pam Hupp, who the Academy Award-winning Judy actress will play.

The Jerry Maguire star is also an executive producer on the miniseries, with Jessika Borsiczky working as showrunner.

Susan Rovner, NBCUniversal Chairman of Entertainment Content, said that elements of the true crime story made for a natural adaptation to the small screen.

‘The twists and turns of this saga are truly stranger than fiction, and in the hands of this incredibly talented artistic team, this series will bring a completely new perspective to a story that has already captivated millions,’ Rovner said in a statement about the production.

The Thing About Pam marks the initial collaboration between NBC News Studios and Blumhouse Television.
