Rebecca Judd’s tattoo secret: Footy WAG reveals she went to get a ‘bogan’ inking at the age of 13 – before a bizarre discovery changed her plans

Rebecca Judd has shared the shocking story of how she was almost left with an unsightly tattoo at age 13.

Appearing on KIIS FM’s 3pm Pick Up last Friday, the footy WAG, 37, revealed that she came perilously close to getting a dolphin inking during a visit to New Zealand with her mother Kerry Brown.

‘My mum was such a rebel back in the day. So, she grew up in New Zealand and she had her friend do [a tattoo],’ Rebecca told her co-host Monty Dimond.

Rebecca explained that Kerry, who has a small star tattoo on her arm, actively encouraged her to get an inking as well.

‘So when we went back to the town she grew up in, I was like: ‘How cool if I got a tattoo,’ and mum’s like, ‘Yeah! Let’s do it!” Rebecca continued.

‘So I was about to get a dolphin. I know, how bad! As a 13-year-old, what a little bogan!’ she mused.

Luckily, a bizarre discovery at the shopping centre changed Rebecca’s plans at the last minute.

‘I found these little chicken crystals, like a little set of… you know those Swarovski crystals, those little figurines? I found a little set of chickens, and I bought those instead,’ she explained.

Astonishingly, Rebecca has still kept the crystal figurines 24 years later.

‘I’ve still got these chickens. They saved me!’ she declared, adding: ‘What was my mum thinking?’

Born in New Zealand, Kerry and her husband Hugh followed the trend of Kiwis moving to Western Australia during the mining boom in the 80’s.

They lived in a small cray-fishing town called Leeman, before moving to Perth a few years later.

Kerry and Hugh separated early in Bec’s childhood, but remain close friends.

‘When they moved, mum was 16 and Dad was 22… they were like two kids. I look back and think, ‘I can’t believe they were ever together,’ Rebecca told the Herald Sun in 2017.
