Rapper Fred The Godson has reportedly passed away in New York City at the age of 35.
The star from the South Bronx in New York had been suffering from COVID-19 and recently took to Instagram to ask fans to pray for him. To make matters even more complicated, he suffered from asthma and had problems with his kidneys.
The musician – also known as Gordo – was best known as an MC who worked on the songs Toast To That and Doves Fly.

According to the CDC, ‘People with moderate to severe asthma may be at higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19. COVID-19 can affect your respiratory tract (nose, throat, lungs), cause an asthma attack, and possibly lead to pneumonia and acute respiratory disease.’
News of his passing first broke after DJ Self posted it on his Instagram page: ‘Was loved by many never heard one bad thing about you RIP @fredthegodsonmusic Sleep Well my brother,’ according to Power1051.
The star had been in a New York hospital for weeks before friends told TMZ that he had died from the virus.
Billboard added that on Wednesday he was in the Intensive Care Unit with a 105 degree temperature and poor kidney function.

He left behind a wife, LeAnn Jemmott, and two children.
LeAnn had been keeping fans updated on his condition.
On April 10 she said: ‘He is fighting and he is winning. He has no sign of infection. His heart is strong and working well. His kidneys have been affected, but as of today, he has started dialysis to clean the toxins out of his blood. Fred is going to make it. God is good!’

She has yet to comment on his passing.
In early April she said that doctors had been slowly taking him off his ventilator.
It’s unclear if he was ever released from the hospital, the site added.

Fat Joe also paid tribute. He wrote: ‘My little brother ooooh how sad am i, i prayed and prayed and prayed for you all night long. So many dreams so many conversations so many great times we had. I am in shock to say the least i love you soooooooo much little brother it’s been years since i felt this pain.’
