Radio king Kyle Sandilands roasts rival breakfast shows live on air

Radio king Kyle Sandilands roasts rival breakfast shows live on air – and mocks 2Day FM for broadcasting its Sydney program from Melbourne

Kyle Sandilands had an extraordinary spray at his breakfast radio rivals on Thursday morning.

The Kyle and Jackie O Show proved its dominance over the Sydney airwaves by airing its competitors live on KIIS FM – just to remind listeners they’re not missing out.

He told his audience that if they were curious about other breakfast shows, now they don’t ‘need to flick around’ for the best option.

The program broadcast snippets from Triple M, Nova and Triple J, but the worst criticism was reserved for 2Day FM’s The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed and Erin.

He strongly criticised 2Day FM’s phone-in segments and also made snarky comments about hosts Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughesy, Ed Kavalee and Erin Molan broadcasting their Sydney breakfast show from Melbourne.

The program is based in Melbourne at present because of Erin’s commitments as a sportscaster for Channel Nine during the Australian Open.

As Kyle continued his rant, his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson reminded him she was on the same judging panel as Hughesy on Channel 10’s The Masked Singer.

Kyle has made no secret of his contempt for 2Day FM in the years since he parted ways with the Southern Cross Austereo-owned station in 2014.

He can’t resist mocking each new attempt at a breakfast format, and has previously had feuds with 2Day FM presenters Rove McManus and Em Rusciano.

The Hit Network station has been unable to find a successful Sydney breakfast team since Kyle and Jackie O’s departure, and last year gave up entirely by filling the time slot with a music playlist curated by Jamie Angel.
