The Queen Of Versailles star Jackie Siegel bonded with Captain Lee over their shared losses… and reveals her Housewives connection

The Queen Of Versailles star Jackie Siegel has revealed how she and her husband David bonded with Captain Lee over their shared losses on the latest episode of Below Deck.

Both the Siegels and Lee lost children to accidental drug overdoses, and despite being told not to bring up the loss to the Below Deck star, the topic was broached anyways and only brought them closer together.

‘We were only on the boat for about five minutes and we see Captain Lee and my husband goes straight to him and says “I’m so sorry about your loss.” Can you believe it? Within the first five minutes!’,’ Siegel told TVDeets.com.

Fortunately, the personal subject ended up bringing Lee and her husband together.

‘I was worried. I thought, “We’re going to get kicked off the show.” We can’t follow this one rule. But Captain Lee was great. All of a sudden, he opened up to us after my husband shared that we had lost our daughter to a drug overdose.

‘They talked for quite a while and I believe that will be on the show. Throughout the whole dinner, the whole night, they talked and had their emotional time together.

‘I think it was good for both of them because my husband is a successful man and Captain Lee is a successful man in his field, and it’s like they are peers. So I think it was beneficial for both of them to have that conversation.’

The Siegels’ daughter Victoria tragically died at age 18 of an accidental overdose in 2015, while Lee’s son Joshua passed away at age 42 from the same cause in 2019.

Siegel, who was the subject of the award-winning 2012 documentary The Queen Of Versailles, is no stranger to the world of Bravo TV.

The star has already appeared on Below Deck, and has previously expressed interest in joining the Real Housewives Of New York.

‘We have a hotel there. We are going to be remodelling our penthouse, but they went with someone else [this season],’ she said.

However, she feels more of a connection with the New Jersey edition.

‘I have more of a connection with the New Jersey Housewives, to be honest. I’m friendly with Margaret Josephs. I flew up to New York, we had lunch, it was great. She’s so cute.’

Asked about potentially joining The Real Housewives Of Miami, which may be headed to Peacock, Jackie said: ‘I would love to be a Friend or come in and see the women. I could do that!’

The next episode of Below Deck will air February 1, 9/8c on Bravo.
