‘Feminism takes on many shapes’: The Pussycat Dolls’ Kimberley Wyatt says feminists sometimes ‘misunderstand’ the group’s sexy image as she defends controversial Sunrise performance
The Pussycat Dolls endured a slew of backlash from parents for their raunchy Sunrise performance on Friday.
But now, one of the group’s members Kimberley Wyatt, 38, has taken aim at mainstream feminist outrage towards the girl group.
On Saturday, she told the Daily Telegraph that some feminists often misunderstand the group’s sexy image on style.

‘There are some feminists that come at us with a bit of misunderstanding but feminism takes on many shapes and sizes,’ she told the publication.
‘People have different perspectives on what being a feminist is.’
Amid the outrage of the girls’ performance on Friday, Kimberley added she was surprised we ‘weren’t past this already.’

The girl group are currently in Australia as part of their reunion tour, performing at nostalgic festival So Pop, along with other big names from the early 2000s.
In a separate interview with News.com.au on Friday, Kimberley said that it’s ‘unfortunate’ that the group is ‘so misunderstood’.
On Friday morning, Kimberly, Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta and Carmit Bachar sang some of their biggest hits in Sydney’s Martin Place.

The girls were dressed in racy outfits and fishnet stockings, and performed an array of raunchy dance moves on stage.
Viewers compared the performance to a ‘strip show’ on Sunrise’s Facebook page, and parents said they were struggling to explain it to their children.
Lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, 41, took on the criticism prior to their Australian performances during an interview with The Project on Wednesday.

‘We put that together in three days and those outfits were a bit provocative,’ she said, amid criticism after their UK X-Factor performance.
‘But we are women now… It takes courage to wear that stuff and to do it.
‘We always do everything with confidence, with the intent of inspiring and empowering others – of our women out there and anyone who feels they relate to us.’
The Burlesque girl group have sold more than 54 million albums since coming to prominence in 2003.
