‘They’re all drinking turmeric shots and taking selfies’: Presenter and actress Donna Air says today’s teenagers are too boring and healthy

She’s hardly the wildest woman in showbiz, but even Donna Air thinks today’s teenagers are too boring and healthy for words.

‘They’re all drinking turmeric shots and taking selfies,’ says Donna, who dated the Duchess of Cambridge’s brother James.

‘What sort of youth is that, drinking juice and doing yoga? And they’ve all gone vegan.’

Talking to pal Kate Thornton on the White Wine Question Time podcast, former Dancing On Ice star Donna adds: ‘Teenagers could take a leaf out of our book and see how it is done.’

If I were Donna’s 16-year-old daughter Freya I’d take that as permission to go wild…

Poor Salma Hayek has been complaining that being nominated for an Oscar in 2002 for playing artist Frida Kahlo failed to stop her being typecast as a stripper. The 53-year-old, left, seems to have forgotten her Hollywood breakthrough saw her dancing in a bikini in the 1996 film From Dusk Till Dawn.

Speaking at British Vogue’s Forces For Change event, Salma said: ‘I was nominated for an Oscar for Frida, but I couldn’t get a job afterwards. They still kept offering me the same roles – the wife of the drug dealer, the maid, the stripper… I played three or four strippers. People said, “Girl, keep your clothes on!” ’

It’s been a tough life for Salma – she was born into a wealthy family, married billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault and has made an estimated £100 million in Hollywood.

Watts up pussycat?

It’s not unusual to see a fat cat flying first class, but this is ridiculous. Actress Naomi Watts cuddled up to an enormous ginger tabby while on a flight with her 11-year-old son Samuel Kai. The pet, called Louie, belongs to Naomi’s pal, US actress Gina Gershon.

Naomi wrote on Instagram: ‘I’m not a cat lady. Dogs are my jam. But this was a nice bit of much needed comfort today!’

Rules vary among different airlines, but several now allow pets to travel in the cabin with their owners.
