Peter Andre admits he was ‘freaking out’ after his Covid-19 diagnosis

Peter Andre has reflected on his recent battle with Covid-19, after testing positive for the respiratory virus in December.

Appearing on The Morning Show alongside his wife, Dr Emily MacDonagh, the 47-year-old singer admitted the diagnosis took a heavy psychological toll on him.

When asked how he felt after his positive result, Peter said he immediately started ‘freaking out’ over the possibility of his symptoms getting worse.

‘Once I had it, you have got the psychological side of it, where you start freaking out about, “Is this going to get worse?”‘ he said.

‘Only because you are hearing all the stories every day on the news, and you are hearing about people that are in intensive care, and people that are on oxygen and you start to fear it.’

Peter, who has since recovered from coronavirus, also said he was ‘so convinced’ he didn’t have it to begin with.

‘Don’t ignore your symptoms, because it might not be what everyone else has had,’ he added.

Peter’s Covid-19 symptoms included ‘body aches’ and a ‘tickly cough’, but he never suffered from a high temperature, which is one of the most common symptoms.

His wife, Emily, who has been working as a NHS frontline doctor during the pandemic, received her first dose of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine last week. 

The 31-year-old medic decided to get the vaccine because she wanted to ‘protect’ her patients and colleagues.

‘I am young and healthy, but I work with vulnerable  patients of all different ages, people in different health conditions, and also I have to protect my colleagues as well,’ she said.

‘For me I wanted to protect my patients, my colleagues and for me it was really important to get it.’   

Epsom Hospital in Surrey documented Emily’s inoculation on Twitter, posting several photos of her getting the jab from a nurse.
