Pete Wicks ‘massively regrets’ doing reality TV and tells strangers on holiday he’s an electrician.
The TOWIE regular, 32, who’s been on the long running series since 2015, wishes he still worked his sales job in London but insists he ‘can’t go back’ now he’s known as ‘that homeless looking bloke’ on TV.
In an interview for Megan Barton-Hanson’s new podcast You Come First, Pete said he would rather ‘punch himself repeatedly in the face’ than socialise with some of his fellow co-stars and there’s ‘nothing real’ about the ITVBe series.

When asked by Love Island’s Megan, 26, if he regrets his TV career, Pete said: ‘I semi regret doing reality TV – massively, yeah.
‘I can’t go back now. It has been so long now that I will always be “weren’t you that homeless looking bloke that was on TOWIE?”
‘Saying I regret it is a double-edged sword because I don’t regret my way of life now, my way of life is better, I get to do some amazing things and go to some amazing places and my quality of life is better.
‘I struggle with the fact that I don’t really feel like I have a job. If I go on holiday or something and I like speaking to people, so I will start speaking to a f***ing random American and they ask “what do you do?”

‘I tell them I’m an electrician. When they say, “what do you do?” What do I say? What the f*** is a TV personality? That’s not a job!’
During the podcast interview, Pete expressed his views on his TOWIE co-stars, revealing some of them are ‘d***heads’ and nothing like the person they’re seen to be on screen.
The latest series saw Pete fall out with on-off love interest Chloe Sims and argue with Dan Edgar, who his comments could be in reference to.
He said: ‘The amount of people that I work with – naming no names – that you think “if I had to sit and have a beer with you, I would rather punch myself in the face repeatedly” but then people see them on TV and think “they must be wonderful!” No they’re not, they’re a d***head.
‘There’s nothing real about that’: Pete said that ‘people aren’t being themselves’ on reality TV and he believes some individuals have ‘made up personalities’ for the sake of the show
‘The whole point of reality TV is that it’s supposed to be “reality” but it f***ing isn’t. It’s really not – I’m probably going to get into lots of trouble for saying that. People aren’t being themselves and there’s nothing real about that.’
Pete, who’s also been on Celebs Go Dating and Celebrity MasterChef, dislikes the amount of reality shows there are on TV and the desire some people have for fame.
He said: ‘There are so many reality shows. Every f***** is on TV, there’s competition for jobs and people trying to f*** each other over and whatever else and it has become – it just has a bit of a negative tongue to it I think.
‘There are so many people on TV that want to be on TV rather than happen to be on TV because they’ve got a personality, now people are making up personalities for TV and actually that’s nothing f***ing like what they’re like in real life.’
