‘I’m a one-hit wonder’: Paul Hogan admits he isn’t upset he was typecast after playing an Aussie larrikin in 1986 hit Crocodile Dundee

It’s been 34 years since he rose to fame portraying the lovable larrikin Mick Dundee in 1986 comedy-adventure hit Crocodile Dundee.

And on Sunday, Paul Hogan explained that he isn’t upset if he was typecast following his iconic role.

‘I’m a one-hit-wonder. But he was a mighty hit,’ the 80-year-old told Stellar.

‘I don’t get recognised as Mick Dundee much now, but then I don’t walk around in the outfit. But the longevity of Dundee has been amazing,’ he continued.

The actor helped put Australia on the map with his ‘shrimp on the barbie’ television adverts, before starring in the hit film.

And while his well-loved persona is attributed to his embodiment of the ordinary Australian bloke, Hogan now lives a low-key life with his son Chance, 21, in the US.

The Australian film star said he can’t wait to get back to his homeland once borders reopen because he is feeling ‘very homesick’.

‘I stay in LA for my kid, Chance. I would give an arm to move back to Australia, but I’m stuck here for the rest of the year, by the sounds of things,’ he told the publication.

Paul, who grew up in Sydney’s Granville, moved to the US permanently in 2005, with his children then wife actress Linda Kozlowski, who he married in 1990.

The pair met while filming Crocodile Dundee, in which Linda played Paul’s love interest Sue Charlton.

He divorced Linda in 2014, after 23 years of marriage.

Paul has five more children with his first wife, Noelene Edwards.

Paul and Linda appeared to have remained amicable in recent years, as Linda helped celebrate the iconic actor’s 80th birthday in Los Angeles last year.
