Patti Newton BLASTS claims she’s having a nervous breakdown and her husband Bert is ‘on his deathbed’ after a hurtful tabloid report

Patti Newton has furiously denied claims she is having a nervous breakdown.

The showbusiness veteran was forced to defend her mental health on Monday after Woman’s Day published photos of her supposedly ‘in tears’ while walking with her grandchildren.

‘I don’t [look sad in those pictures]. I look like every 75-year-old woman looking after two children and walking along,’ she said on The Morning Show.

She added: ‘I even saw the bloke taking those photos and I waved to him and smiled, but I will not do that next time.’

Patti went on to say that tabloid magazines only ever publish the ‘most hideous photographs’ of her.

‘We have had the most hideous photographs and they’ve all been either on the cover or in the magazine and it’s always me that looks terrible,’ she said.

Patti also denied claims she was worried about her husband, Bert Newton, amid the coronavirus pandemic because he is ‘weak and fragile’.

She explained: ‘He had a tooth removed, and because he is on blood thinners we go to the doctor each day to boost him up until it becomes good.

‘Someone could see that as he is ailing, but he is fabulous.’

Patti clarified that she and 81-year-old Bert were happy, healthy and ‘having the best time’ with their grandchildren.

‘The poor people that read those magazines and believe them are thinking Bert is on his deathbed and I am having a breakdown but it’s not true,’ she said.

‘We are very happy people and I would hate to think people believe those things.’
