Padma, who was born in the south Indian city Chennai, added a touch of dazzle to the look with a couple of necklaces.

She posed up with author Gloria Steinem, reporter Ronan Farrow, Variety editor Claudia Eller, producer Paul Buccieri and tennis icon Billie Jean King.

Padma, Billie Jean, Claudia and Gloria were gathered together that day for a panel discussion moderated by Ronan.

While on the red carpet Padma also posed for a duo shot with Gloria, who stylishly clashed a scarlet scarf against a black outfit.

The onstage discussion involved #MeToo and Harvey Weinstein, who this week was convicted of third degree rape and a criminal sexual act.

Ronan was one of the first reporters to break sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey, kicking off the #MeToo movement in late 2017.

Padma said of her 10-year-old daughter Krishna: ‘I don’t want her to go into the arts and be confronted by some pig like Harvey Weinstein.’

She argued, according to Variety: ‘You can change laws, but if you don’t change the culture and the mentality, those laws will not be implemented.’

Meanwhile, Matthew cut a dashing figure in the red carpet in a checked silver three-piece suit and a pair of tinted specs.

He teamed the suit with a white dress shirt without a tie, leaving his top couple of buttons beguilingly undone over his chest.

When the Hollywood heartthrob got onstage he talked about the swap in his image from a frothy romantic comedy lead to a versatile actor capable of searing dramas.

Although he started his career in light fare, he took time off from the business in the late 2000s and eventually embarked on what fans call his ‘McConaissance.’

This phase of his career included his Oscar-winning performance in the AIDS movie Dallas Buyers Club and Emmy-nominated turn in the HBO drama True Detective.

After his eldest son Levi was born in 2008, he said, ‘I took off, and had an un-branding phase,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter.

‘Not a re-branding phrase, an un-branding phase. I said: “I’m out,”‘ clarified Matthew, who has three children with his wife Camila Alves.

‘That anonymity, that being away, that not being the shirtless guy on the beach in a rom-com, by un-branding, then all of a sudden things came to me that I had been wanting to do. Dramatic roles that I had been pursuing were coming my way.’
