Normal People’s Paul Mescal tucks into an ice cream as he takes a stroll in Greece while filming star-studded new movie The Lost Daughter

Paul Mescal took advantage of some free time on Friday as he ventured out for an ice-cream in Greece. 

The actor is currently on location in the Greek islands while filming continues on the set of forthcoming drama The Lost Daughter, Hollywood star Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut.  

Sporting a simple white T-shirt and black joggers, Paul, 24, looked relaxed as took a stroll through picturesque Spetses, where principal photography has taken place since September.

The Irish star added to his look with a pair of black trainers, while heavily tinted sunglasses rounded things off. 

Paul, a regular sight in the affluent Greek municipality over recent weeks, appeared to be enjoying his time away from work as he tucked into a chocolate covered iced treat.  

The actor’s career has gone from strength to strength following his portrayal of lovelorn student Connell Waldren in BBC Three’s Normal People, an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Sally Rooney.

A relative unknown at the turn of the year, he has since featured in Channel 5 drama The Deceived and the promotional video for recent Rolling Stones single Scarlet.

His understated work on Normal People alongside co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones also won him a surprise nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie at the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Lost Daughter – an adaptation of the 2006 novel by Italian author Elena Ferrante – will be his first feature film.

It will also be co-star Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut, with Peter Sarsgaard and Oliver Jackson-Cohen – currently terrifying viewers in Netflix drama The Haunting Of Bly Manor – also set to star.

Paul confirmed his role on Twitter in August, telling fans: ‘I’m a very excited boy!’

The film is scheduled for release in 2021.
