Nick Cordero’s widow Amanda Kloots marks bittersweet anniversary of finding their first family home

Nick Cordero’s widow Amanda Kloots marked another somber anniversary on Tuesday.

She shared a photo taken on October 20, 2019, in which she’s seen posing with her husband and their baby son Elvis in LA’s Laurel Canyon neighborhood.

‘One year ago today we found our home in Laurel Canyon. You can see the open house paper in Nicks hand,’ she wrote on her Instagram.

What might have been: Amanda Kloots posted this photo of herself with husband Nick Cordero and their son Elvis on Tuesday, sharing: ‘One year ago today we found our home in Laurel Canyon. You can see the open house paper in Nicks hand’

Kloots went on: ‘The first thing we saw when we walked in the door was a picture of Elvis Presley from Jailhouse Rock. It was a sign! We had found our first home.’

She recalled: ‘Nick was so happy, so confident that we would get this home even though we had NOTHING in place and barely enough money to get a mortgage.’

The couple had moved from New York, where Cordero was considered a rising star of Broadway, to Los Angeles where the actor planned to continue to build his career.

However, he was hospitalized with pneumonia in March this year and ultimately succumbed to complications of COVID-19 on July 5 at the age of 41.

He never got to live in the Laurel Canyon home.

Kloots shared: ‘I’ll never forget this day and I’m incredibly grateful to Nick for being so persistent on this decision because now Elvis and I have a beautiful place to live and he is with us there every day.’

The 38-year-old, who is making a living as a fitness instructor, has been focused on raising her son and also on keeping Cordero’s memory alive.

She’s been working with her sister Anna on a memoir of her time with the Rock Of Ages star, his long battle with COVID-19 and how she’s coming to terms with his death.

Live Your Life: My Story of Loving and Losing Nick Cordero is set to be published on June 29, 2021, by HarperCollins, Playbill.com reported Monday.

‘It’s about everything I went through, and about positivity and faith and resilience,’ Amanda explained in an interview with the New York Times last month.

‘I want our son to be curious because Nick was very curious,’ she added. ‘I want him to know Nick struggled to make his dreams come true and he never quit. I want him to know his dad was a hard worker.’

Kloots admits that it is a struggle sometimes to keep going in the face of such an overwhelming loss.

‘There are parts of every day that I get sad, and there are parts of every day where I cry,’ she shared. ‘But I also have to find the little things throughout the day that make me happy, or else I know I won’t survive.’

She credits her son Elvis with helping her get through the dark times.

‘Even when I want to be sad, he’s just so cute that you end up smiling and laughing. He looks like Nick, and he has a lot of Nick’s personality,’ she said.
