Mystery as bizarre ‘goblin foetus’ with ‘claws and tail’ is found by builders in disused warehouse in Mexico

A bizarre specimen resembling a ‘goblin foetus’ has been found in a disused warehouse during construction work in Mexico, the local mayor has claimed.
Municipal mayor Francisco Mayoral Flores said samples of the remains, which are reported to have been found in the historical town of Santa María Regla, northeast of Mexico City, are being analysed to determine what it is.
The specimen shown in the photographs appears to have four limbs, a pronounced nose, claws and a tail.
Flores said the mummified remains could be from a ‘goblin or a nagual’ – but locals poked fun at his theory.
A nagual is a personal guardian spirit believed by some Mesoamerican Indians to reside in an animal.

The remains are being exhibited at the Museo de los Duendes, translated as Goblin Museum, in the municipality of Huasca de Ocampo, according to Jam Press.
The Huasca de Ocampo region is known for legends relating to goblins, naguals and other mythical Mayan entities such as aluxes.
The mayor said: ‘If it had been found in another municipality, it would not have been relevant.
‘But due to the themes of goblins and the mystical here, there is a cultural and social demand to give it importance.’
He added: ‘Everyone can value it themselves based on their beliefs and traditions.’
Flores also revealed that doctors and vets have stated that it is the malformed foetus of a cat or dog, but added that ‘samples have already been taken to determine a scientific explanation’.
Social media users were naturally suspicious about the mayor’s theory.
One local resident commented: ‘Ridiculous.’
Another wrote: ‘Is this a joke?’
A third posted: ‘Good thing it’s a magical town!’

In February, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador posted an image on social media claiming that it could be an aluxe, a mischievous woodland spirit in Mayan folklore.
Obrador, who was elected as President of Mexico in July 2018, wrote on Twitter: ‘I share two photos of our supervision of the Mayan Train works.
‘One, taken by an engineer three days ago, apparently from an aluxe; another, by Diego Prieto of a splendid pre-Hispanic sculpture in Ek Balam.
‘Everything is mystical.’
The image, taken at night, shows a creature with startling white eyes at the top of a tree.
Social media users were quick to comment on the post.
One wrote: ‘I thought it was a parody but it is the president’s account.’
Another person posted: ‘The Aluxes are as “real” as your “achievements”.’
