Model Megan Gale begs followers to wear a mask in Melbourne despite looking like a ‘bank robber’

Megan Gale has encouraged everyone to wear a mask following a sudden surge in cases of COVID-19 in Melbourne.

The model, 44, shared a video of herself sitting in her car wearing a large black mask and a beanie to Instagram on Friday.

Megan joked that the effect made her look like a bank robber, before begging people to take precautions to help curb the outbreak in her city.

Plea for help: On Friday, model Megan Gale begged her  followers on Instagram to wear a mask in Melbourne following a surge in coronavirus cases in the city which has been placed back into level three lockdown for 6 weeks from Wednesday 

‘Going shopping. I understand I look like a bank robber but this is necessary and should be standard for all,’ she said.

 ‘Please wear a mask and stop the spread, she added.

Megan’s plea came on the same day Victoria announced it had recorded 288 new coronavirus cases, the worst figure of any state since the pandemic began.

State Premier Daniel Andrews urged Melbourne residents to wear a mask when leaving their home for essential reasons in a press conference earlier that day.

The city of Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire were be placed back into lockdown for six weeks from midnight on Wednesday.

Megan has been isolating at her Melbourne home amid the pandemic, with partner Shaun Hampson and their children, son River, six, and daughter Rosie, two.

Speaking to 9Entertainment in May, she revealed the very unexpected hobby she’s taken up again over the past few months- getting ‘re-acquainted’ herself with learning to play the ukulele.  

Megan also revealed her preferred binge-watching snack to be ‘Cadbury Chocolate or Tim Tams’, and shared her day-to-day outfit worn in isolation.

‘Exercise tights, [a] hoodie or jumper and either runners or uggies (UGG Boots) – not very glamorous but comfy as hell,’ she said.

Megan has also proved to be a whizz in the kitchen- showing  off the adorable Pokémon-themed cake she created to celebrate son River’s sixth birthday. 

The Donna Hay red velvet cake was shaped and iced to look like a Poké Ball, the iconic item characters use in the anime and games to catch the Pokémon. 

She iced one side of the cake white and the other half a bright red with a black border, and added a Raffaello ball in the middle.

For a finishing touch, Megan added a small Pikachu figurine, as well as a small Ditto and Magikarp figure on either side.   

Megan has been dating retired AFL star Shaun, 32, for over nine years.

The pair got engaged in 2017 and prior to the coronavirus pandemic, revealed they will tie the knot in a small ceremony in 2020.   

Megan previously credited good communication and regular date nights to be the secret to keeping the spark alive.
