Model Jessica Hart cried in disbelief when she received her first Vogue Australia cover 

‘It was a monumental project for me’: Model Jessica Hart reveals she cried when she made it onto the cover of Vogue Australia for the first time

She started working as a professional model shortly after winning a Dolly Magazine model competition when she was 15. 

And on Wednesday, former Victoria’s Secret star  Jessica Hart recalled the moment she first made it onto the cover of Vogue Australia in 2008. 

‘I definitely cried when I had the copy in my hands for the first time!’ the 34-year-old told her fans on Instagram.

Jessica first appeared on the the front of Vogue Australia in March 2008, and later appeared on the cover again in January 2014.

The blonde beauty spoke about the moment on her Instagram page on Wednesday and admitted at first she felt disbelief and self-doubt.  

‘My first ever Vogue cover! The whole time I was shooting this I never actually believed it would make it to the cover. I had some voice in my head thinking it was all a joke – ME on the cover of @vogueaustralia?’ she wrote. 

Jessica described shooting for the magazine as a ‘monumental project’, made extra special by working with the ‘incredible late Richard Bailey’.

‘What an honour it was to work with him,’ she said of the famous Vogue Australia photographer, who died in 2010 after a cancer battle.  

‘To think that when I was 13 , before I started modelling, I’d never even heard of Vogue. I was such a tomboy. I never read a fashion magazine,’ she added.

She went on to say that she felt grateful for her modelling experiences. 

 ‘I learnt everything through the industry, about the industry and so much more! It really was my saving grace,’ she said.

Jessica, known for her unique gap-tooth smile, reflected on her rise to fame in 2017, and how she believed individuality is seen less today in the industry.

Speaking to Best Weekend, she said: ‘There is a lot of stress in feeling you have to conform to what everyone thinks is cool or whatever is in.’

While the model was born in Sydney, she relocated to the US soon after breaking into the industry, and later walked for Victoria’s Secret in 2013.

Throughout her career, Jessica has also modelled for the likes of Marc Jacobs, Portmans, Seafolly and Michael Kors.
