MKR’s Colin Fassnidge reveals his secret to getting him through a ‘full-on 16 hour’ shift

‘It helps the day go a bit better’: My Kitchen Rules judge Colin Fassnidge reveals the secret pantry item that saved him from ‘heat rashes and sweating’ during 16-hour chef shifts

The Irish chef Colin Fassnidge began his successful culinary career in the 1980s.

And now the My Kitchen Rules judge has revealed one secret hack that got him through tough 16-hour shifts in the early days of his career.

The 45-year-old chef told The Saturday Telegraph that corn flour was often a savior for him while working in a hot kitchen for long shifts.

‘In a kitchen, when I use to be full-on 16 hours a day… you get a bit sweaty so the old talcum powder helps the day go a bit better.’

But if there was no talcum powder available, he said he would use an unusual alternative that was on-hand in the kitchen.

‘I actually used corn flour because it is available free in the kitchen. Like babies in a nappy, you get a rash from the heat and the sweating,’ he said.

Colin’s quirky hack comes after he slammed controversial dating experiment Married At First Sight on Seven’s rival network Channel Nine.

The Irish-born chef labelled the dating experiment a ‘cesspool’ and condemned viewers who complained about MKR’s own drama-filled dinner parties.

‘What I don’t get is everyone says there is too much drama around the table,’ Colin told The Daily Telegraph last week.

He added: ‘Then they’ll switch to MAFS. Give me a break. It’s a cesspool.’

Colin went on to urge fans to tune back into Channel Seven’s ratings-challenged show because the ‘cooking this year was outstanding’.

Seven recently axed My Kitchen Rules from its Sunday night programming following unprecedented poor ratings.

As reported by TV Blackbox, the struggling cooking show was recently dropped from Sunday night programming and replaced by a ‘rushed-to-air’ documentary about koalas being rescued during the recent bushfires.

When approached for comment, a Channel Seven spokesperson said: ‘MKR has not been permanently removed from Sundays. The rollout of our primetime schedule this month, including these timely specials, is as planned.’
