However, hordes of parents have refused to send their children back to school amid the coronavirus pandemic, with many fearing that it was too soon.

Among them was the former Liberty X star, who spoke to Lorraine Kelly and psychologist Kimberley Wilson about her worries about sending AJ back to primary school.

Michelle, who also has eight-year-old daughter Faith, said: ‘I’ve really been 50/50 for a long time and so has my husband Hugh.

‘My main concern is that he needs his education because I’m not a teacher and I don’t know what I’m doing and I’m battling, I’m battling that. But, my main concern is health, awareness and lasting impressions on him as a six-year-old.

‘I can’t go to the school to see what they’re doing and I know they’re amazing there at his school as it everybody else’s school around the country and are doing their best and I’m sure it’s perfectly fine and harmless.

She continued: ‘But is harmless the right word we should be using right now because we’re being told other things about social distancing. And to send my kid back to school, him being I suppose isolated away from his friends in a certain manner, I don’t know what that lasting impression would be on him.’

Kimberley advised on methods about how Michelle could alleviate her fears, including checking with the school on the exact methods they’ve put into place, as well as talking to other concerned parents.

Meanwhile, Michelle also told how she’s beginning to struggle with isolating at home.

The star said: ‘It’s very very lonely. I don’t want to say I’m depressed but I’m getting in a depressive state.’

Michelle explained that ahead of lockdown she lead a very active life and was ‘never someone who stays at home’, and said she found it difficult to adjust to this ‘new way of life’.

She went on to say that with one child set to go back to school and the other one not permitted to yet, it may prove difficult, but added: ‘It’s not a no, it’s not for now.’

Last month, Michelle revealed she was forced into self-isolation with her children after coming into contact with a neighbour who was diagnosed with COVID-19.

A week after going into quarantine, Michelle told her followers she was her seven day isolation after making it clear to fans neither her or children have ever had the virus.
