Michael Clarke shares a photo of himself getting his skin checked after having a skin cancer removed from his forehead less than two years ago

Michael Clarke has spoken out about the importance of getting regular skin checks.

In a post on Instagram on Wednesday, the 39-year-old former cricketer shared a photo of himself undergoing a skin check. 

‘It’s so important for me to take care of my skin health with a history of skin cancers and UV damage,’ he captioned the post.

The post came less than two years after Michael revealed he’d had a skin cancer cut out of his forehead.

In a post on Instagram in September 2019, Michael shared a black and white photo of himself showing off the stitches between his eyebrows after the procedure.  

‘Another day, another skin cancer cut out of my face…’ he captioned the post, before adding a warning for others.

‘Youngsters out there make sure you are doing all the right things to protect yourself from the sun.’

Before having the skin cancer removed, Michael had previously been diagnosed with three non-melanoma lesions. 

The father-of-one was first diagnosed with skin cancer in 2006 and has battled the disease several times since then.

He told Seven’s The Morning Show in 2018 that he goes for a routine check-up every six to 12 months.   

In 2014, Michael appeared in an ad campaign for the Cancer Council, where he advised fans to ‘keep a close eye’ on their skin.

He said: ‘Aussie blokes and women need to keep a close eye on your skin, particularly look in those hard to see places, and familiarise yourself with your body.’
