Michael Clarke celebrates his 39th birthday with his daughter Kelsey Lee

Michael Clarke celebrated his 39th birthday on Thursday by spending quality time with his four-year-old daughter, Kelsey Lee.

The retired Australian cricket captain proved that it’s the simple things in life that matter most by taking Kelsey Lee to Woolworths and buying dessert.

After returning home, Michael shared a photo to Instagram of the pair eating chocolate chip cookies together.

Earlier in the day, Michael had shared footage of his daughter wearing his sweater as they strolled down the frozen food aisle.

‘When daddy forgets to bring a jumper and you need to go through the freezer section at Woolworths,’ he captioned the video.

It comes after Michael’s estranged wife, Kyly Clarke, revealed she had no plans to change her surname once their divorce is finalised. 

The lifestyle blogger, 38, told The Kyle and Jackie O show on Thursday morning that it was ‘important’ for her to share the same surname as their daughter.

‘I think it’s funny how sometimes you make such a fuss in the beginning about changing names or not changing names,’ she said. ‘I think it’s very important that our last names are the same and I love that.’

Michael and Kyly, who married in May 2012, announced their separation in February, but it’s believed they had actually split five months earlier. 

The Clarkes have already agreed terms on their divorce, as well as arrangements to co-parent Kelsey Lee.

Meanwhile, Michael is rumoured to be dating fashion designer Pip Edwards, who is the founder of activewear label P.E Nation. 

However, she insists they are just friends and business partners.
