Merrick Watts reveals why he’s been holding a grudge against Tim Ross since 2018

‘I’ve been holding a grudge’: Merrick Watts reveals he hasn’t spoken to Tim Ross since 2018 after turning down ‘an enormous amount of money’ to reform Merrick and Rosso

Merrick Watts has confirmed he still holds a serious grudge against his former radio partner, Tim Ross.

While a guest on Hughesy, We Have A Problem on Monday, the comedian said a ‘communication issue’ relating to money caused their rift.

Merrick, 46, said the pair were offered ‘an enormous amount of money’ to reform Merrick and Rosso in November 2018 – but Rosso brushed off the opportunity.

‘To be completely honest there is a grudge, I‘ve been holding a grudge for a period of time now,’ he admitted.

Merrick and Rosso are one of the nation’s highest-rating radio pairs of the past 20 years. Their last radio show was with Kate Ritchie on Triple M in 2009.

There have been long-standing rumorus of a feud between the pair, but when they split in 2009 Merrick said: ‘this has nothing to do with Rosso and I not liking each other. No fights, there’s no carry-on, there’s nothing like that.’

Other radio sources sayid at the time that Rosso had some degree of jealousy of Merrick’s greater solo successes.

However, on Monday he claimed the pair hadn’t spoken for almost one-a-half-years.

Merrick said he asked Rosso to meet with him to discuss the mystery station’s ‘extraordinary offer’ to get back together, but he never did.

Despite the duo likely earning good money back in their peak, Merrick harped on that it was ‘more money then [he’d] ever seen’.

Merrick went on to claim Rosso said he’d give him a call back after getting a haircut, but went on to say: ‘He never called me back… and that was in November 2018!’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Tim Ross for comment.

It’s unclear which radio role Merrick was offered in late 2018.

However, around the same time, Em Rusciano quit 2DAY FM in September 2018 and its new Breakfast show with Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee had the lowest breakfast audience share at the time. They announced Ash London would join the trio permanently in December 2018.

Interestingly, Em was sitting next to Merrick when he broke the news on Hughesy, We Have A Problem.
