Mel Greig has revealed that she is in isolation due to suffering ‘coronavirus symptoms’ despite testing negative for COVID-19.

The 37-year-old shared the news on Instagram on Monday, alongside a photo in which she is wearing a surgical mask and appears to be in a medical facility. 

The radio personality wrote at length: ‘I currently have a lot of the coronavirus symptoms and I was tested last week at the hospital, thankfully I just returned the negative result.

‘Due to my symptoms I’ve been asked to stay in isolation so I don’t pass on any illness to the vulnerable.’ 

The blonde star then pleaded with others to take the illness seriously and self isolate. 

‘It pains me when I see people complaining about being bored in isolation or taking group selfies laughing with #socialdistancing. Everyone needs to be taking this seriously,’ she penned.

Mel went on to lend her support to those who had lost their jobs due to lockdowns as a result of the pandemic. 

She added: ‘I’ve seen so many beautiful friends lose everything today and they might not recover, it’s heartbreaking. 

‘To those that have lost your jobs… Be strong and leave any ego at the door… If you need to try something new and out of your comfort zone just bloody do it and be proud that you’re trying.

As of Monday evening, there have been 1,716 recorded cases of coronavirus in Australia with seven deaths as a result.

NSW is the hardest hit state with 669 cases and six deaths.
