Maya Jama and ex Stormzy ‘secretly spent Christmas together sparking hopes they could reunite’

Maya Jama and Stormzy reportedly spent some of Christmas Day together.

The TV presenter, 26, and rapper, 27, called it quits on their relationship in August 2019 after four years together however are thought to have stayed pals.

It has now been claimed that some pals of the former flames are hoping their festive meet-up could rekindle their romance and see them become a couple again.

A source told The Sun: ‘Stormzy and Maya remained friends after their split and they decided to spend some time together over Christmas.  

‘This is very much friendship but their mates think something could happen between them in the future.

‘They made a lovely couple and given everything that’s happened this year, it seems they could grow closer again.’

The source added that Stormzy and Maya kept things ‘low key’ for the time spent at her home in London over the celebrations.

Stormzy and Maya started dating in January 2015 after meeting the previous year and went public with their romance in 2016, however they split in August 2019. 

The rapper sang about his relationship with Maya on track Lessons, where he said the way he treated her was his ‘biggest of regrets’.

He also rapped: ‘Fast forward now, my nephew’s still asking for his Auntie Maya, guess this is the karma for what I done to Maya. 

‘I just stood and let it burn, I couldn’t down the fire…’

Speaking on the BBC Radio 1Xtra Breakfast Show about the emotional break-up track, which was released in 2019, he said: ‘That’s something we shared and it’s on a public forum, everything happened so publicly.  

‘It was a hot topic and I’m going on record now and I’m apologising. I’m trying to lay it all bare and be very truthful and be very clear in my truth. 

‘It was a public disrespect. It was a public disrespect that needed a public apology.’

He continued: ‘That girl gave me the world. I will wholeheartedly say that’s a phenomenal woman that loved man wholeheartedly and was man’s everything.’

After their split Stormzy also admitted he has ‘never loved anyone how I’ve loved her’ in an YouTube interview with Charlamagne tha God.  

The radio host asked if he thought the pair could ever reconcile, to which Stormzy responded: ‘I would love to be the man who she needs,

‘I would love to do all the things that make this work. I want to marry her, I want to have her children.’  

Maya has spoken less often about her relationship, however did insist there was never any awkwardness or weirdness because they met before finding fame. 

The radio DJ and TV presenter was just 20-years old and a relative unknown when she first met the London based rapper, real name Michael Omari Owuo Jr, in 2015 – two years before the release of his BRIT Award winning debut album Gang Signs and Prayer.

Appearing on Shopping with Keith Lemon in November, she said: ‘I didn’t ever feel like a celebrity couple. Everyone else made it like that. We just had a normal relationship. And then everyone was just talking about it. 

‘We met when we were like 20, before anyone cared about us. So then it was just a normal relationship.’
