‘The attention can’t always be on you’: Furious MasterChef viewers turn on Laura Sharrad after she awkwardly rubs her victory in Sarah Tiong’s face and leaves her visibly upset

MasterChef fans turned on Laura Sharrad on Tuesday night after she bombarded a visibly upset Sarah Tiong with questions as soon as the ‘black box’ challenge ended.

‘Sarah! Tiong! Come on… what’s wrong? What’s wrong? Did you get everything in? What did you miss? What did you miss? What did you miss?’ quizzed Laura, 24.

As Sarah politely asked for a second to compose herself, Laura abruptly turned her attention to other contestants, and the exchange infuriated viewers at home.

‘Laura, read the situation. Sarah T needed space and doesn’t need you repeating the same question that’s doing nothing but rubbing in her face that this wasn’t her best cook,’ tweeted one viewer after the scene aired.

‘Laura’s gloating little dance at the end of the cook, where she asked everyone if they’d finished and delighted in their stress was just ugh,’ posted a second fan.

‘How annoying was it when Laura was all like, “What’d you miss?” to Sarah T. Let her have a moment please,’ vented a third person.

Others ranted that ‘the attention can’t always be on you’ to Laura.

The awkward moment occurred at the end of the ‘black box’ challenge.

Whereas Laura was proud of her creation, Sarah ran out of time and was left disappointed, tearing up and fearful of her place in the competition.

As Laura then hugged Sarah and quizzed her about what went wrong, the emotional contestant responded: ‘Can I just have a second?’

‘Okay, I’m going to hug everybody else,’ replied Laura, quickly walking away.

Afterwards, Sarah began to cry and struggled to contain her emotions.

‘I’m really disappointed that I didn’t get every element done, but it’s okay. I gave it my best shot,’ cried Sarah, struggling to speak.

‘I’m just trying to hold it together at the moment and find some sense of positivity.’

She managed to remain in the competition, with Sarah Clare eliminated instead.
