MasterChef viewers accuse the show’s former contestants of not maintaining a safe social distance during the intense finale

MasterChef viewers were left alarmed during the show’s grand finale on Monday.

Many fans claimed the show’s contestants weren’t maintaining a safe social distance, with filming for the episode having taken place amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The finale saw this season’s eliminated contestants all return to sample a three-course meal prepared by finalists Emelia Jackson and Laura Sharrad.

Clustered together: MasterChef fans claimed the show’s contestants weren’t maintaining a safe social distance during the show’s finale, with filming for the episode having taken place amid the coronavirus pandemic

But as they awaited their seats at their assigned tables, concerned fans flocked to Twitter to voice their concerns.

‘Nobody’s social distancing. Unless they got tested before going in to film,’ tweeted one person, while another urged, ‘Social distancing guys!!’

But others claimed there wasn’t much social distancing going on at the tables either.

‘So much for social distancing? Why is it only when they’re standing,’ asked one viewer, while another wrote, ‘Not much social distancing at that table?’

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Network 10 for comment.

Emelia Jackson was crowned the winner of MasterChef Australia: Back To Win on Monday night’s grand finale episode.

She takes home a whopping $250,000 – which she says will help build her cake business – and the MasterChef 2020 trophy.

The emotional chef embraced runner-up Laura Sharrad, who was undone by her overly icy gelato dessert.

While Emelia was elated, crying out, ‘are you serious? Are you serious?’ over and over in delight, Laura broke down in bitter tears.

‘I can’t speak, I can’t speak,’ she gasped, before managing to compose herself.
