‘This is now a Brendan stan account’: MasterChef fans flock to social media to swoon over Brendan Pang as he shares the sweetest story about how he learnt to make dumplings

During his first stint in the MasterChef kitchen in 2018, Brendan Pang earned himself a reputation as being the ‘dumpling king’.

And on Wednesday’s episode, the  27-year-old made viewers swoon when he shared a personal story about how he learnt to make the classic Asian dish from his grandmother.

Fans flocked to twitter to proclaim how much they ‘loved’ him after hearing the sweet account.

‘I just love love love Brendan,’ said one fan, before another added: ‘Ummmm ok Brendan is a sweetheart’.

‘This is now a Brendan stan account,’ Tweeted a third. 

Yet another viewer praised the Perth-based chef for his ‘authenticity’.

‘Such a big fan of Brendan. He is authentic and a pure joy to watch,’ they said.

The sweet moment happened as Brendan was taking part in the first mystery box challenge of MasterChef: Back to Win.

Inside the box of ingredients, specifically chosen by new judge Melissa Leong, was chicken feet, taro, cherries, coriander, black vinegar, Chinese five-spice, King George whiting, spring onions/scallions and galangal.

Brendan chose to stick with what he did best and make a flavourful broth with dumplings.

As judge Melissa Leong made her way around the work benches, she and Brendan bonded over how ‘special’ learning to make dumplings had been to both them. 

‘For me it was in primary school when I was in year three, I guess,’ Brendan revealed after Melissa said she’d learnt to make them from her mother.

‘It was school holidays… with my grandmother. That’s what started my dumpling journey.’

Afterwards in a straight-to-camera piece Brendan added: ‘It’s really nice to have that connection with Melissa, she understands for me it was such a special time in my life. I really want to impress her today.’
