MasterChef viewers go WILD as ‘dessert king’ Reynold Poernomo blows up an impressive sugar ball

Reynold Poernomo made viewers at home go wild during Sunday night’s episode of MasterChef: Back To Win.

The 26-year-old ‘Dessert King’ had fans, as well as the judges, captivated by his attempts to blow up a ‘sugar ball’ for his apple pie dish in the round one challenge. 

As Reynold began to feel the pressure in the competition, racy tweets about the task at-hand quickly surfaced online.

‘Imagine chopping up carrots and celery sticks while Reynold is pumping that sugar ball,’ one viewer wrote. 

Another added: ‘Whatever Reynold is making, it had better be friggin huge (sic).’ 

‘Reynold loves to blow that sugar,’ said another.

While a fourth cheekily posted: ‘I hope Reynold’s balls perform under all this pressure!’

During round one of the elimination challenge, Reynold went head-to-head with Sarah Clare.

They were required to present an American-inspired dish, using an open pantry.

Keen to elevate his apple pie dish, Reynold decided to blow sugar into an apple shape, to place on top of his cinnamon parfait.

Judges Andy Allen, Jock Zonfrillo and Melissa Leong, looked mesmerised as they watched the pastry chef pump away, blowing the sugar into a perfect dome-like shape.

‘They’re watching me. I’m still just pumping away,’ Reynold said on camera. 

‘I’m trying to ignore them. I’m just trying to stay calm. I’m feeling a lot of pressure. This dome has to be perfectly done. There’s no room for error,’ he added.

Luckily for Reynold, he didn’t crack under pressure, impressing the judges with his intricate and aesthetically pleasing dessert dish.

Reynold was saved from going into the elimination round, with the judges choosing his apple pie over Sarah’s buffalo wings.
