MasterChef fans are demanding ONE major change be made for next year’s season

MasterChef fans are demanding a MAJOR change for next year’s season – and they insist it will eliminate ‘biased’ judging

Viewers have had a bone to pick with the new MasterChef judges from day one – namely, they are too close to the contestants and have picked favourites as a result.

And now some threatening to boycott next year’s season unless one major change is implemented on the cooking show.

Some MasterChef fans are asking for blind judging to be the standard going forward, as this will eliminate potential favouritism.

Fans on social media are saying that Melissa Leong, Andy Allen and Jock Zonfrillo shouldn’t know whose dishes they are tasting when they give feedback.

If they appraise the dishes solely on their own merits, viewers argue, the judgments will be more objective.

However, this would only work in certain challenges, as the judges walk around the gantry observing what the contestants are making before the dishes are presented to them.

There have been several examples this season of fans accusing the MasterChef judges of ‘cheating’ and ‘favouritism’.

Last month, viewers singled out Jock for what they considered his ‘blatant’ bias in favour of Poh Ling Yeow during a mystery box challenge.

Early in the season, Poh served up a mille-feuille that wowed the judges – but viewers described it as ‘basic’ and ‘just a vanilla slice’.

Meanwhile, Jock has strongly denied claims that he has favourites on the show.

In a column for Stellar magazine, the 43-year-old said: ‘Favouritism is just not a thing. It’s not something we would accept from one another as judges.

‘At the end of the day, if it tastes rubbish, it tastes rubbish.’
