‘I was shocked. I almost fell over’: Ousted MasterChef contestant Tracy Collins reveals the production issue that led to her elimination

Tracy Collins was eliminated during Sunday’s episode of MasterChef: Back To Win for serving the judges overcooked fish.

But the chef says she was ‘shocked’ by the result and swears the dish was perfect – until it was left to sit for too long before the judges could taste it.

Appearing on The Project on Monday night, the 44-year-old restaurateur says that the show’s production schedule contributed to her downfall.

She told The Project’s hosts: ‘At the end of the cook, I checked the fish and it was actually perfectly cooked.

‘What my big error was [is] that I put the sauce on the fish straight away and it sits around for some time before the judges eat it.’

Tracy added that she was not prepared for the result, believing her dish to be perfectly done, until it dawned on her what had happened.

Tracy explained: ‘I checked the fish and it was actually perfectly cooked. What my big error was [is] that I put the sauce on the fish straight away…’

‘I was shocked when they said it was overcooked, I almost fell over, but upon reflection I thought, of course, it sounds to me like it cooked in the sauce,’ she said.

The cook disappointed the judges with her overcooked kingfish with chorizo and sweet corn using the double cutlet, which also lacked acidity.

Despite the unfortunate result, Tracy made a dignified exit from the franchise, telling the judges and her co-stars that she has grown as a person.
