Mary Cosby’s parents believe she’s a ‘victim’ and they want her to get away from husband

Mary Cosby has been one of the most polarizing figures on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, but her parents are claiming she’s a ‘victim’ in a new interview.

Cosby made headlines earlier this month after she didn’t attend the RHOSLC Season 2 reunion, after a polarizing season where she sparked controversy in many ways.

She came under fire for saying her castmate Jennie Nguyen, 44, has ‘slanted eyes’ and there were claims that the church she runs with husband Robert Cosby Sr. is run more like a cult than a church.

Now Cosby’s parents are opening up in an exclusive interview with Up and Adam! that will debut January 19, with a trailer revealing new details about the family drama. 

The interviewer, Adam Coy Newell, is seen mentioning that the Cosby family was upset when ‘mama chose Mary as the chosen one to take over the church and marry Robert Cosby Sr.,’ with both of Mary’s parents saying, ‘That’s not true.’

Her father added, ‘Mary was not Robert Cosby’s first choice. She does not want to be married to her step-grandfather. Never did wanna be married to him.’

Robert Cosby Sr. was the Mary’s late grandmother’s second husband, with Mary even admitting in a December interview that she didn’t want to marry him at first.

‘I didn’t want to. That’s weird to me. But [my grandmother] really did want me to, so I obeyed her. I trusted every word,’ she said in an interview with Heather Gay.

However, Mary’s parents told a somewhat different story, revealing he paid her off as a way of convincing her.

‘He convinced her with, “Mama wanted you to marry me. By the way, here’s a couple hundred thousand dollars and it’s your birthday, here’s a brand new BMW for you to go with it,’ Mary’s father said.

Both Mary’s mother and father reiterated they think she’s a ‘victim’ in all of this, with her father saying, ‘she better remove herself very quickly.

Mary and Robert Cosby Sr. have been married for 20 years and share a son together, Robert Cosby Jr.

They’re also asked what they’d like to say to Mary if she sees this, her mother said, ‘Just that I love her and I want her to get away from that man.

Mary hasn’t publicly responded to the interview trailer as of yet.

Aside from Cosby not showing up at the reunion, she has hinted that she will be leaving the franchise, though it has yet to be confirmed.
