The latest: Carrie Coon, 39, who plays Proxima Midnight in the Marvel Universe, has revealed an unexpected plot twist in the films saying her character could have been brought back

‘No one ever dies’ in the Marvel Universe, she joked, adding, ‘It’s very possible I could have my own Avengers movie next … but I wouldn’t hold your breath.’

In the chat, the actress opened up about the process she underwent in getting a coveted role in the Marvel Universe with the Russo brothers.

‘I got a voice-over audition; it was not specified what the project was, they were being very secretive about it, but I was given some of the lines that did end up being in the film,’ she said.

The Emmy-nominated actress added that the Russo brothers ‘were excited about the possibility of me actually physicalizing the character as well, and they invited me to come down to Atlanta.’

The Post star, who’s married to Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts, noted she ‘was pregnant and doing a play at the time,’ and ‘flew down and was on set with them for about 12 hours.’

Carrie also spoke about her time playing Nora on HBO’s The Leftovers, saying she was surprised by the ending of the series, especially as she delivered an intense monologue opposite co-star Justin Theroux.

‘I didn’t know that was how the show was going to end,’ she said. ‘I was not warned, I was not consulted – not that I wanted to be consulted. I never got in the way of the writing.’

She said the last scene of the show ‘reveals to you something about the way you see the world, if you think [her character Nora] is’ lying or telling the truth.

‘And I don’t want to rob anyone of that experience because I think the most powerful aspect of The Leftovers was its ambiguity, so I as Nora, I just don’t feel like I want to take anybody’s perspective away.’
