Martin and Roman Kemp ‘are set to co-host new ITV weekend show to rival Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch’

Martin and Roman Kemp are set to join forces as the pair are reportedly gearing up to front their own weekend chat show which will rival Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.

The father, 58, and son, 27, pair will co-host the new ITV programme Sunday Best which will feature a mix of celebrity guests and live music.

According to The Sun, the show is set to launch this spring and will go up against Sunday Brunch, which is hosted by Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.

Speaking at the BRIT Awards earlier this month, Roman teased a project he and his father were working on.

He said: ‘Dad and I are working on something special, we’re really excited.’

Martin added: ‘We have such a laugh when we work on something. We’re very lucky.’

A source added that the pair will enlist the help of their showbusiness pals to ensure the programme lands stellar guests.

They said: ‘Between them, Roman and Martin know a lot of music stars, young and old, so their show will be red hot. But it will be a chilled-out, easy, family affair.’

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Martin for further comment.

Sunday Brunch has been airing on Channel 4 since March 2012 with each episode featuring a variety of celebrity interviews and cooking segments.

It comes after Martin recently put a dampener on hopes for a Spandau Ballet reunion in the near future and revealed he still hasn’t spoken to ex frontman Tony Hadley.

Speaking to MailOnline, the rocker admitted the True hitmakers – also comprised of Gary, Steve Norman, and John Keeble, weren’t set to come together as a group any time soon.

Martin said: ‘Obviously I would love to make a reunion happen, we have all been vocal that we would love to make it happen and bring the band together again.

‘Spandau Ballet is on ice for now. I can’t say what will happen in the future.

When asked if he had spoken to Tony, 59, Martin said: ‘We haven’t spoken in a while, I haven’t spoken to the rest of the group in a while, so I don’t know what will happen in the future. There’s no drama.’

The group reunited in 2015 for a world tour and have split up on-and-off over their career spanning more than three decades.

Tony was the lead vocalist throughout the 80s, but his relationships with his bandmates hadn’t always been plain sailing.

In 1999, Tony, drummer John and sax player Steve were embroiled in a lawsuit over royalties with chief songwriter Gary, but they failed in their efforts.

Tony eventually quit the group in 2017 amid a spat with the remaining four members, and has launched a solo career.

Earlier this year Gary said the he was ‘fighting’ for a reunion of the band, saying: ‘I would love to get back with the band but Tony (Tony Hadley, lead singer) wants to do his own thing. ‘

‘We tried to go another way a year or two ago but I just didn’t feel it felt like Spandeu Ballet without Tony…

‘So unless its the original five it’s not going to happen. I get blamed a lot for campaigning to get the band back together, I’ve always fought for that.’
