Married At First Sight’s Vanessa Romito has urged Channel Nine to cast more natural women like herself as the series begins casting for season eight.

The 31-year-old, who documented her struggle with acne scarring and self-esteem on the show this year, said that MAFS needs less ‘artificial’ women moving forward.

‘Young girls need to watch real women on TV,’ she said during an Instagram Q&A with fans on Monday.

In another post, Vanessa re-posted a comment from a fan that read: ‘Would have preferred to have seen more natural women like you on MAFS.’

The brunette responded: ‘Thank you, I agree.’

She also shared another comment from a fan that took a swipe at the ‘artificial’ women on MAFS this year. 

‘You [Vanessa] were the most natural beauty in the show,’ the fan wrote. ‘All the other girls were so artificial.’

This year’s Married At First Sight brides appeared to have the most plastic surgery out of every cast in the show’s history.

Stacey Hampton, KC Osborne, Cathy Evans, Hayley Vernon, Natasha Spencer, and Mishel Karen have all been open about having work done, whether it’s going under the knife or simply having injectables like Botox.

Single mum Stacey, who was just 25 at the time of filming, has been incredibly open about her plastic fantastic looks.

The aspiring lawyer has admitted to getting breast implants, rhinoplasty, a tummy tuck, and lip fillers.

Meanwhile, Vanessa bemoaned the ‘superficial’ culture of modern dating on Married At First Sight this season.

‘I don’t think it’s a choice that I’m single,’ she admitted on the show.

‘I’m ready for a relationship but modern dating is very superficial.’

She added: ‘People tend to pick out your imperfections, and I’ve got a lot of them.’ 

The brunette admitted that she’s so self conscious over her skin that she avoids going on dates with men during the day.

‘I think I’m probably most attractive at night, when the lighting is dim,’ she said.

Vanessa explained her acne in further detail, revealing that her pimples would get so big at times that they would cover her eye or stick out on the side of her chin.

‘It damaged my confidence a lot,’ she said. ‘I don’t think anybody would truly be satisfied with this.

‘I’ve always felt like I was gonna be left on the shelf,’ she continued.
