Married At First Sight: Stacey Hampton ‘hospitalised and put on antidepressants’

Married At First Sight EXCLUSIVE: Stacey Hampton is ‘hospitalised and put on antidepressants’ after being prescribed Valium for the reunion

Married At First Sight’s Stacey Hampton has revealed the brutal backlash from appearing on the controversial show led to her seeking medical help after it premiered in February.

In a brief statement to Daily Mail Australia on Thursday, the 26-year-old law graduate said: ‘Yes I went back to [hospital] not long ago and was put on antidepressants.’

It comes after Stacey admitted that she was on Valium as she filmed the reunion in January, where her alleged ‘affair’ with Mikey Pembroke was exposed.

Stacey insisted she was okay on Thursday, but is still taking her antidepressants.

She said: ‘I’m okay now, still on the medication. I’d took myself off antidepressants ages ago after first going on them when my brother died.’

Since the season premiered, Stacey has been forced to defend herself from trolls on social media daily, who have targeted her looks, lifestyle and relationships.

Earlier this week, co-star Natasha Spencer urged fans on Instagram to be kind after revealing the backlash had led to Stacey ‘being hospitalised’.

The beauty was prescribed antidepressants after taking Valium in January.

Valium, or Diazepam, is a medicine that typically produces a calming effect. It’s often used to treat anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, or muscle spasms.

Stacey is set to become the centre focus at the show’s season finale on Sunday.

She will sit down with her now ex-‘husband’ Michael Goonan in front of the relationship experts, as her cheating scandal with Mikey continues.

The episode was filmed on January 16, and was the final day of production.

During Tuesday’s reunion dinner party, which was filmed on January 15, she was first accused of sleeping with Mikey during filming in October.

She has repeatedly denied the accusation, saying Mikey is ‘obsessed’ with her. He insists it did happened, and offered text messages between them as proof.
